Chief executive of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, in charge of national statistics and the census. SPPS-II contract in Islamabad for a statistician or economist with 20 years' experience; age up to 60.
The Chief Statistician is the chief executive officer of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. Under its Governing Council, the post decides how national data are collected, processed and published, and supervises the census across Pakistan through provincial census commissioners.
Functions
- Advise governments on national statistical programmes and on the use of statistics in policy.
- Appraise the quality of statistics nationally and coordinate other statistical agencies.
- Set national statistical standards in line with international ones.
- Build the Bureau's analytical, research and training capacity, and prepare its work plans, reports and budgets.
Eligibility
- A postgraduate qualification in Statistics, Economics, Biostatistics or a related field (MSc, MA, MS, MPhil or PhD; postgraduate diplomas in statistics or economics are also listed).
- 20 years' experience.
- Age up to 60.
