Coastal Region scholarship for Balochistan

The Coastal Region scheme is HEC's most generous undergraduate package, and it is kept for four districts: Gwadar, Lasbela/Hub, Kech (Turbat) and Awaran. It began under the Accelerated Development of Backward Areas of Balochistan and has run in batches of fifty, 200 scholarships in all: 20 a batch for Gwadar and 10 each for the other three districts.

Unlike most area schemes, it lets you study at a public or a private university anywhere in Pakistan, and it pays for living as well as fees: tuition and other charges with hostel up to Rs 240,000 a year, Rs 15,000 a month, Rs 30,000 a year for books and travel, and up to Rs 5,000 a month for private accommodation where a university has no hostel. One scholar of each batch may be funded at LUMS and one at IBA Karachi.

The rules are tight because the seats are few: domicile of one of the four districts, both matric and intermediate passed in those districts with at least 50% each, and no older than 22. Batch IV's advertisement set its last date at 10 February 2026, and HEC has since published the provisional merit list.
